My Approach
Whether we’re documenting your family in the backyard or shaping visuals for your brand, the heart of my process is the same: listen first, then create something honest.
01.
We talk about your world.
We start with a real conversation—about your people, your work, your story, and what this season of life feels like. For families, that might be the stage your kids are in right now. For businesses, it might be what you want clients to feel when they find you.
02.
We shape a shared vision.
Together, we map out the vibe: locations, colors, outfits, timing, and how you want the images or video to feel. For branding, we also think about how everything will live on your website, social media, and in your marketing. For families, we lean into your rhythms and the kind of memories you want to hold onto.
03.
We create in a way that feels like you.
Session day is relaxed and collaborative. I’ll guide you when you need it and step back when the moment is better left unfolding on its own. Whether it’s a family snuggling on the couch or a founder in their element at work, my job is to notice the real you and make space for it.
04.
I curate and refine your story.
Afterward, I carefully select and edit the images (and video, if we’ve shot that) so everything feels cohesive and true to the vision we set. For branding clients, this may also include graphics, layout suggestions, or how certain visuals can best support your offers and online presence. For branding clients, that can extend into collaborating on your website design, social media strategy or management, and ongoing content planning, so your visuals have a clear, intentional home rather than getting lost in a camera roll.
FAQ
This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?
You don’t have to know how to pose or what to do with your hands—I’ve got you. We’ll talk through the plan ahead of time so you know what to expect, and during the session I’ll guide you when needed and step back when the real moments start happening. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s honesty and connection.
What should I wear?
Wear something you can actually move and breathe in. Neutrals and softer colors photograph beautifully, but the most important thing is that you feel like yourself. For families, think “coordinated but not matching.” For branding sessions, we’ll choose outfits that reflect how you want to show up in your work and online.
How many pictures will I receive?
It depends on the type of session, but most galleries include a generous, curated selection of storytelling images—enough to give you variety without feeling overwhelmed. For typical sessions, that often looks like dozens of final edited images you can download, share, and print. (We can talk specifics when you inquire.)
Are you available outside of Vancouver?
Yes. I’m based in the Raleigh area, but I’m open to traveling around North Carolina and beyond for the right projects. Travel fees may apply depending on location, but we’ll talk through all of that clearly before you book.
Do you do couples photography?
Absolutely. I photograph couples, small events, teams, and creative collaborations in addition to families and brands. If your story matters to you, I’m interested in helping you tell it.
Do you have a question?
Reach out through the contact form and ask anything—details, ideas, worries, timing. There are no silly questions, and the more I know about you, your family, or your business, the better I can serve you.
